PrincipalDirections to a Sustainable Future

In Santa Fe, Dr. Christina Cogdell and her art students at College of Santa Fe are working with community youth and volunteers and members of Earthcare International, a small environmental education nonprofit, to chart the city’s sustainable businesses, parks and trails, alternative transporation and bike routes, as wll as its water issues. Their Green Map was published in late October 2006, in a 100-page guide called Sustainable Santa Fe.

The Center for Community Sustainability offers noncredit courses designed to increase awareness of energy and water sustainability issues, provide information about alternative energy sources and train individuals for employment or entrepreneurship in these rapidly growing industries. 515Santa Fe Green Drinks

Green Drinks is a “green” social hour for learning and networking active in 450 cities worldwide. In Santa Fe, Green Drinks happens the last Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at a local business that recycles or practices some form of sustainability. Open to anyone working on or interested in environmental issues, from non-profit groups, business, government, academia to individuals.
